The PRO instrument she developed for breast surgery, the BREAST-Q, has been widely adopted for research and clinical care. It has been translated into 30 languages and The National Health Service in Great Britain used it in a national audit of mastectomy and reconstruction outcomes.
Her team’s work to develop the BREAST-Q has served as the basis for the development of other outcome measures in surgery, including the FACE-Q (for facial reconstructive and aesthetic surgery), BODY-Q (for bariatric and body-contouring patients) and most recently, the CLEFT-Q (for children and adults with cleft lips and palates). Throughout her career, Dr. Pusic has been involved in a number of research studies that seek to better understand the patient perspective on surgical outcomes and experiences.
